Our History

Shri Balbhadra Prasad Shukla was a leading social reformer, activist and a lawyer of Lakhimpur Kheri. After completing his B.A. LL.B. from the Allahabad University in the year 1902, he started his practice of the law dealing with the civil side. He became the legal advisor to the erstwhile princely states of Oel and Mahewa. However he did not contain himself to the Bar. Despite being offered to take up cases in the Privy Council, he refused to go to England to continue his active participation in the freedom movement of India. He was an active member of the Quit India Movement in 1942 during which he even underwent incarceration. After the dawn of independence, he vowed to continue his social crusade against illiteracy, ignorance of thought while holding a belief that education alone can cure such evils. He then went on to devote the rest of his life to the emancipation and education of women and children.Carrying forward the same rich heritage, the Balbhadra Prasad Shiksha Samiti was formed in the year 2000. Thus B.P.S. Public School (Affiliation No. 2131845) was born to carry forward the insight, vision and the high ideals of that great personality. The school promises to promote the course of education without discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, colour or sex. Affiliated to the CBSE to provide education upto the 12th Grade, the school continues its pursuit of excellence for all..

From the Principal’s Desk

rsz_101-1Parents who want their children to receive a “good education” must concern themselves with what kind of education is best for their children and how their education will directly affect their growth into adulthood. It goes without saying that children should be competent in the 3R’s (reading, writing, and arithmetic) but at the same time, parents must look at long term goals for a lifetime of education.

One of the most important goals of education is to teach children how to learn. Children must be able to think critically in order to evaluate what they see, hear, and read. This is a skill which is paramount, not only to structured education, but to life in general. Another goal that must be achieved is to have children develop the necessary traits of a healthy personality. Self-assurance, self-respect, trust in others, and respect for others must be developed.

Next, we want the children to work well with others. Sharing with others, understanding the needs of others, and assuming responsibility for the well-being of others are important qualities one must have in our world today.

Finally, we want the children to work creatively in order to fully express themselves as the unique individuals they are.

At B.P.S. Public School, our goal is to provide students with sound academic skills, while at the same time providing them with the framework from which they can develop the necessary lifelong skills which I feel encompass a “good education.”
